In 2019, Foxconn’s Chairman, and CEO, Young Liu announced the formation of forward-facing business initiatives called “3+3”. Among the several industries included in the “3+3” model included electric vehicles.
On May 11, 2022, Foxconn completed an asset purchase agreement with Lordstown Motors.
With APA completion, Foxconn acquired a nearly 6.2 million-square-foot facility in northeast Ohio equipped with many of the features needed to bring electric vehicle production to reality.
In addition to acquiring the facility, over 400 highly trained and skilled Lordstown Motors employees transitioned to employment with Foxconn.
